Solar performance

How is solar doing nearby?

Compare recent solar production with normal levels for an area. A widespread dip can help explain how weather is affecting local systems.

How switching off a pool pump helped get the power back.

During Hurricane Nolo, one customer’s battery ran out overnight. The next morning, our monitoring showed why the system was struggling to get going again.

8:00 am · Restart failed

We saw the heavy load.

About 8 kW of demand came on as the Powerwall tried to restart, and it shut down again. Our team checked the readings and messaged the customer to help identify what was running.

8:42 am · Pump switched off

The customer found the cause.

The customer initially thought no large appliances were on. After we pointed out that a pool pump could explain the load, they found it running and confirmed they had turned it off.

9:00 am · Restart succeeded

Solar began recharging the battery.

The next restart held. At 9:12 am, we messaged the customer to confirm the system was running and advised keeping loads low while the battery recharged.

Our monitoring gave the customer a practical next step, and the readings confirmed when their system was running again.

Based on recorded system readings and customer messages. During this rollout, our team reviewed and sent the guidance; outage messaging is now automatic.

Active monitoring · 24 hours a day, 7 days a week

Know what to do next.

During an outage, our messages explain your battery’s charge, how long it may last at your current usage, and when to reduce loads. If the battery runs empty, guidance helps you prepare for a restart and respond if it fails.

Between outages, we check solar performance and battery settings to catch issues that can reduce your savings. Monitoring, alerts, and guidance are included at no extra charge.
